Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath are the four pillars of Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand which goes every year between April & November. While Yamunotri is the seat of river Goddess Yamuna, Gangotri is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Badrinath is known as the abode of Lord Vishnu (Badri) and Kedarnath is a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Apart from these four dhams namely Yamunotri Dham, Gangotri Dham, Kedarnath Dham & Badrinath Dham; other major holy cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Mana, Joshimath etc could also be visited in Chardham Yatra Package. Chardham Yatra is also growing popular among foreign tourists, who are blessed to see the heavenly natural beauty and Himalayas with a chance to know more about the culture of India.

What are Char Dhams..??

Char Dhams are the four pilgrimage sites in India. As per the Hindu tradition it is believed that visiting Char Dhams once during lifetime will led to achieve salvation i.e., Moksha. The major Char Dhams as per Hindu mythology are Badrinath (In North India), Dwarka (In Western Part of India), Rameshwaram (In South) & Jagannath Puri (In Eastern Part of India). And there is also another small circuit of Char Dham in the Northern State Uttarakhand which comprises of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath. The Char Dhams of Uttarakhand are all together referred as Chhota Chardham. Due to extreme cold in winter in the Northern Part of India especially hilly areas like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir the Chhota Char dhams viz. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath are not accessible. Thus Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand starts every year at the auspicious day of Akshya Tritya & end at the start of winter i.e. day next to Diwali. Here we are talking about the Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand.

Chardham Yatra Duration..??

Generally Chardham Yatra Package takes 11 to 12 Days from Delhi but if you are planning from Haridwar than 10 days are sufficient to visit all four Chardhams of Uttarakhand viz. Yamunotri, Gngotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath. However if you are short of time & does not want to cover complete Chardham together you can opt for a second option which is Do Dham Yatra. Do Dham Yatra is a visit to any two Dhams of the four Dham together. Generally they are visited in Pair of Gangotri-Yamunotri Yatra & Kedarnath-Badrinath Yatra. Do Dham Yatra takes 5 to 6 Days from Delhi & 4 to 5 Days from Haridwar/Dehradun.
Chardham Yatra Package requires such a long duration just because of the distance between the destinations. But in the coming years the duration will surely be cut off as The Chardham All Weather Road Project has been approved & the construction work is going on regarding this project. And, due to this construction pilgrimage will faced some problems but it will definitely help them in future.

When to Plan Chardham Yatra Package..??

Chadham Yatra starts every year at the auspicious day of Akshya Tritya i.e., in late April or Early May. And the Chardham Yatra continues till Diwali. Due it harsh weather condition caused due to heavy rainfall in these regions all four abodes are not accessible & it is not allowed to visit. All four dhams are relocated to accessible places to continue their worship during winter as it is not possible to survive there for a human being due to heavy snowfall. Thus in this process Yamunotri Dham is shifted to Kharsiali, Gangotri Dham is shifted to Mukhba, Kedarnath Dham is shifted to Ukhimath & Badrinath Dham is shifted to Joshimath. Thus Kharshali (Yamunotri), Mukhba (Gangotri), Ukhimath (Kedarnath) & Joshimath (Badrinath) are all together comprises of Winter Chardham Yatra.
Thus it is strictly advisable to plan your Chardham Yatra Package between the months of April & November (till Diwali). During monsoon as well it would be a risk to plan Chardham Yatra Package as there are major chances of landslides due to heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand. So if you are planning to book Chardham Yatra Package you should have to consult with an Expert or travel agent before planning for Chardham Yatra Package. It will be a great if you book your Chardham Yatra Tour with a travel expert like AMAZEMYTRIP.
