Sikkim, state of India, located in the northeastern part of the country, in the eastern Himalayas. Our “North Sikkim” tour package gives you a much-desired break from the madding city life. Some two-thirds of North Sikkim consists of perpetually snow-covered mountains, dominated by the Kanchenjunga massif. The residents of North Sikkim have traditionally viewed the mountain as both a god and the abode of gods. Due to its location near the Chinese border the place is mostly controlled by the Indian Army and many areas require special permits if one wants to visit them. In “North Sikkim” traveler will get a chance to visit some spectacular places of North Sikkim like Gurudongmar Lake, Yumthung Valley & Zero Point. North Sikkim Tour Package also offers travelers a chance to witness the hot water springs. It is such a miracle of having hot water in such a cold atmosphere.

Description

Day 1: Bagdogra /NJP – Gangtok (120 Kms/4 Hrs.)
Welcome on arriving at Bagdogra Airport for North Sikkim Tour, you will be greeted by AMT’s representative. After warm greetings proceed to Gangtok. The capital of Sikkim situated at an altitude of 5,410 ft is a base for exploring other parts of Sikkim. Initially established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site promising of the best monasteries & landscapes. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Later in the evening you could explore MG Marg Market. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Gangtok – Tsomgo Lake – Baba Mandir Excursion – Nathula Pass (Indo China Border)
Morning breakfast at hotel – Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir. Tsomgo Lake is perched between the mountains at a dizzying height of 12400 ft above sea level situated on the Gangtok – Nathula Highway. Enveloped by steep snow capped mountains which bound you to leave in awe by its Charming Beauty. The Lake is oval shaped & is nearly 50 feet deep. Oftenly covered in snow throughout the year. This lake is home to the Brahminy ducks & many migratory birds – Nearby is the sacred Baba Mandir known to be a very holy site for all. Nathu La Pass to Republic of China is nearly 20 kilometers and is optional tour – Later in the evening back to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Note: Only Indian citizens are allowed for Baba Mandir & Nathula Pass.

Day 3: Gangtok – Lachen (135 Kms/4-5 hrs)
After an early morning breakfast, we drive to Lachen. It is a 135 km long drive which should take 5-6 hours to complete. 96 km into the journey, comes Chungthang where we will stop for lunch. We cover the rest of the journey to Lachen. The main attractions of Lachen are the snow-capped peaks, Shingba Wildlife Sanctuary, Gurudongmar Lake, Chopta Valley and Thangu. We then check into the hotel, have some tea and then visit the Lepcha Village. Overnight stay in Lachen.

Day 4: Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Lachung
We leave for Gurudongmar Lake at early morning which is a 3 hour drive. There is a valley here through which a River called Lachen Chu flows. It is known as the Holy Lake and is covered in snow for 9 months, or more. We drive through a cold dessert until we reach the Tibet-China border. Then we make our return journey for lunch. Post Lunch proceed to Lachung. After arriving check in at the hotel followed by overnight stay.

Day 5: Lachung – Yumthang Valley &  Zero Point Excursion (Optional)– Gangtok
Post early morning breakfast, proceed to Yumthang Valley which is Known as Valley of Flowers (11800 Ft / 3598 Mts / 25 Kms / 1 ½ hours one way) and Zero Point, further up and about 23 kms from Yumthang at an altitude of over 15,000 ft is the place Zero Point (also known as Yume Samdong) On the way back, visit Hot Spring considered to have medicinal properties. Have lunch & move to Gangtok. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 6: Gangtok – Bagdogra/NJP (120 Kms/4 Hrs)
Have some delicious breakfast and then leave for Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your onward journey. Your arrival at the Airport / Railway station will mark the end of North Sikkim Tour & services of AMT. Tour concludes with everlasting memories of Northeast.
